? ? ? ? ? ? ? ทารกคลอดก่อนกำหนดกับการเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่ ในทารกที่คลอดก่อนกำหนดจะมีปัญหาในด้านการดูดและการกลืนซึ่งส่งผลต่อการเริ่มการเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่1,2และมีความสัมพันธ์กับระยะเวลาในการเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่3 พบในทารกคลอดก่อนกำหนดเล็กน้อย (late preterm) มีความเสี่ยงในการเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่ยากเพิ่มขึ้นเป็น 1.72 เท่า (95%CI 1.24-2.38)4 โดยปัจจัยที่จะช่วยเพิ่มอัตราการเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่ในทารกคลอดก่อนกำหนดคือ การเริ่มปั๊มนมก่อน 12 ชั่วโมงหลังคลอด สำหรับการป้อนนมด้วยถ้วย5 การให้ทารกดูดจากเต้าหลังการปั๊มนมออก (non-nutritive sucking)6 การตรวจทดสอบน้ำหนักของทารก (test-weighing) และการงดการใช้จุกนมเทียมจะช่วยในการส่งเสริมการเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่อย่างเดียว7
